My youngest sewing his bag |
A while ago I bought an Elna Mini sewing machine to teach sewing to women. But yesterday when my sewing machine broke right in the middle of a sewing project, I took the mini out to use. This was the first time that I used it and I was impressed. It sews very nicely. Since it's a basic beginner's model, it runs slowly so that it's easily controlled. So I thought to myself, 'This will be excellent for my boys to use.'
So today, I got my boys to sew a bag since bags are the easiest things to sew. All you need are 2 rectangles. Sew along three sides and leave one side open for the bag opening. Then hem the opening. After this, you need a long thin rectangle piece for the strap. My boys wanted to carry the bag across their shoulders so they sewed one long strap. But if your boys want to carry their bags over one shoulder or hold it in their hands then sew 2 shorter straps.
OK, so their stitches were crooked but not bad for a first time on the sewing machine!
Just LOVE the camouflage bags!
ReplyDeleteI buy almost everything with camouflage print that I see for my baby boy :-p When he was born he was dressed in a tiny camouflage outfit LOL
Could not resist to comment when my eye caught the print of the bags ;-)
Thanks for the comment. We've recently bought some green camouflage fabric because the boys wanted to make water bottle holders to take along when we go bushwalking. Just haven't gotten around to making it yet.
DeleteI want to see that when you make it :-)
DeleteMy husband is very much into wilderness trips. He is in a hiking trip today, actually. So I guess my baby boy will grow up like his papa! So I will always love to make him special gifts :-)
My husband is the same. Before we married he used to go hiking up mountains but now when we go as a family we just walk in the bush :)
DeleteInshaAllah I will post the water bottle holder when my boys finish it.
