High Teas and Tea Cosies

Last year, one of my sisters took all of us sisters and her nieces to have high tea with her. She normally has tea at those high end hotels but one of our nieces receommended this little tea shop. So we travelled by train into the city to this quaint little place called the Tea Cosy. Obviously, the main attraction was the tea cosies. They served tea in teapots covered with tea cosies and they even sell them as well.

Normally, I'm not a fan of tea cosies because I have lovely teapots that would be spoilt by covering them up.

What you do you when you have too many different coloured yarn leftover from other projects? They were taking too much room and they were just sitting there. They had to go! It then came to me that the quickest way to use up all of them was to knit a blanket.

You might recognise some of the colours from my past craze of knitted beanies from a couple of years ago. I'm over with beanies (well knitted beanies for the moment) so I'll not likely use the yarns again. Now I have a very useful blanket for those cold days when I'm sitting at my computer typing away...

I've been experimenting with the different yarns available to knit scarves with. These are the basic garter stitch scarves but made with different types of yarns. They are so fluffy and feel so soft around your neck. It feels like you're wearing a fur stole!

This winter my fad has been knitting scarves. (A couple of years ago, it had been knitting beanies.) They have got to be one of the quickest and easiest things to knit. If you're teaching your children to knit then I would start with scarves.

Knitting a beanie is so quick - it gives you instant gratification. I used to start out knitting jumpers for myself when I was younger but I never finished anyone of them. Then when I got married and had children, I decided to knit baby clothing. I reasoned that since they were on a smaller scale then I would be able to finish it. But no - I never finished a single one. One day, however, I decided to knit booties for my nephew and guess what? I finished it. It turned out well and I felt so good for finally finishing a knitting project that I made several. The lesson here is if you're anything like me then it is better to knit something really small!

Knitted Stripy Bag

This bag is a great way to use up all the bits of leftover yarn. 

Stripe Knitted Cushion

I love how this turned out. I think the key to it is the multi-coloured yarn which gives it texture. It made it more interesting otherwise the cushion would be just plain striped.
